- Jesus heals Peter's mother-in-law and drives out an evil spirit from a man
in the synagogue in Capernaum. He heals many more people during this Sabbath

Jesus withdraws from
Capernaum to a solitary place for a time of prayer. He also heals a man with
leprosy, tells him to "go and show himself" to others, resulting in His fame
increasing as a result of the leper's word. |

- Jesus heals a paralytic man who is brought to Jesus by some of his friends.
The crowds were so large that the friends ripped open the roof and lowered the
paralyzed man through the roof to Jesus. He calls the tax collector Levi
(Matthew) to be one of His disciples. The disciples also ask Jesus about the
disciples of John while walking along the Sea. |

- Jesus deals with many subjects in the above references. He answers
questions concerning picking grain on the sabbath, performs the miracle in
Capernaum of healing the man with the withered hand, heals many people from
all around the Galilee area, presents the famous Sermon on the Mount, and
heals the slave of the centurion in Capernaum. |

Jesus returns to the
northwestern shore of the Sea of Galilee and raises Jairus' daughter from the
dead, heals the woman with the issue of blood, and sends out the twelve
disciples. |

- While in Capernaum, Jesus answers the questions of the Pharisees concerning
what is clean and what is unclean, and presents His famous discourse on the
Bread of Life. |

- At Capernaum, the Pharisees ask Jesus about paying taxes to Caesar, the
disciples ask Jesus who will be greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven, and Jesus
responds with the Parables of the Lost Sheep and the Unmerciful Servant. |
