– DVD video chapter – Via Dolorosa – Location – This is the "traditional" route that Jesus took from the place where he was condemned, the Antonia Fortress, to the site of the crucifixion. The walk through the narrow streets of the Old City, complete with its many sights, sounds and smells, is an experience that is nearly indescribable. There are 14 "Stations of the Cross" along the Via Dolorosa where, as "tradition" has it, certain events related to the crucifixion of Christ are supposed to have taken place. The following is a brief list of these Stations: Stations 1 and 2 relate to the trial and condemnation of Jesus; Station 3 memorializes the place where Jesus fell the first time; Station 4 observes the spot where Mary meets Jesus; Station 5 marks the location where Simon of Cyrene was forced to carry the cross for Jesus; Station 6 commemorates the act of Veronica wiping the face of Jesus; Station 7 is where Jesus fell for a second time; Station 8 is the location where Jesus spoke to the women of Jerusalem; and at Station 9 Jesus fell a third time. – Scripture –
– Questions – 1. There are different reports of the event in Jesus walk to the cross. If ten people see a terrific automobile wreck, will all ten see something different? Would all know the speed of one car or would they be different? Would all agree on the color of the cars? Such opinions do not deny there was a wreck. All agree He went to the cross. – Map (from www.anova.org) – http://www.anova.org/sev/atlas/htm/113.htm |
