– DVD video chapter – Gethsemane

– Location –

At the foot of the Mt. of Olives in the Kidron valley is the Garden of Gethsemane.  In ancient times, a grove of olive trees covered the entire western slope of the Mt. of Olives, and this grove was referred to as the Garden of Gethsemane.

– Scripture –

·         Matthew 26:30-57; Mark 14:26-31; Luke 22:39-54; John 18:1-13 - Following the Last Supper, Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray with His disciples, was arrested and taken into custody.  He was crucified on the next day.

– Questions –

1.     Jesus knew and said He would have to suffer and die (See Matthew 16:21) so why was this so difficult?

2.     Could this be because He took upon Himself all the sin of the world?

3.     Was it because He was both God and man, the human suffering was what any human would feel?

4.  Some teachers say He was struggling because He did not want to die before He could be on the cross.  Satan did try repeatedly to keep Jesus off the cross so He would not be resurrected (See Matthew 27:40-42, Luke 23:39.)
