– DVD video chapter – Temple Mount

– Location –

Mount Moriah, which is where the Temple was built, is one of the world's most sacred shrines.  This rocky Judean knoll, indistinguishable from a thousand others, has been interwoven with the saga of monotheism for the incredible period of some 4000 years. At the southern end of the Temple Compound is the silver-domed El Aska Mosque, considered the third most holy shrine in Islam, directly behind Mecca and Medina.  Near the center of the Temple Mount stands the Dome of the Rock, originally constructed between 605 and 705 A.D. This brilliant blue structure with the golden dome is perhaps the most recognized landmark in Jerusalem.  Contrary to popular belief, this building is not technically a mosque, but only a Moslem shrine.  The building surrounds a huge stone that is believed to be the very site where Abraham took Isaac in obedience to God's command.  It is also thought that this stone served as the altar in the Temple of Solomon, since there are holes and trenches carved into the rock which may have carried away the blood and refuse of sacrifices.
